FM war in Trivandrum

We , radio freaks in Trivandrum, had only one FM station till last week. Suddenly the FM band is abuzz with whole lot of activity. Today , I could tune the following stations.

Frequency Station
101.9 Ananthapuri FM
98.3 Radio Mirchi
94.3 Club FM
93.4 SFM
92.7 Big FM
( Frequency updated on 29th May 2008 , Big Thanks to Roy for pointing out the mistake).
The stations come with crystal clear stereo. I have been listening to them for the past 2 days. The program content is same in all the new stations.
I used to do a lot of FM dxing in the past. We can access lot of FM channels if you can put an external antenna. I have received kannur FM station and several SriLankan stations on my Philips Radio. I am writing a separate article on FM dxing .

    Hi,

    Only three channels are stereo, others are mono I think so
    Anathapuri,SFM,and Big FM are stereo, bcse these channels are only displaying stereo in my receiver

    There is some correction required in the Frequency
    101.9 Ananthapuri FM
    98.3 Radio Mirchi
    94.3 Club FM
    93.4 SFM
    92.3 Big FM
    There is also a community broadcast in the frequency 90.4 from Kinfra but the range is very low and is available only for about 3-4 km around Kaniyapuram

    Hey, ALL channels ARE STEREO.

    All *mobile phone* FM receivers do not receive Stereo signals when you are inside a building, or far away from broadcast tower.

    All conventional mains powered FM receivers accept the Stereo signals even inside a building, and about 60 km radius in Trivandrum.

    101.9 – Anathapuri FM, by Prasar bharati, [Non 24hr, mixed malayalam+hindi]
    98.3 – Radio Mirchi, by Radio Mirchi Broadcasting Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai. [24hrs]
    94.3 – Club FM, by Mathrubhumi Communications Ltd, Kerala. [24hrs]
    93.5 – S-FM, by Sun Network, Chennai. [24hrs]
    92.7 – BIG FM, by Reliance Communications Ltd, Mumbai. [24hrs]

    91.9 – Radio Mango, by Manorama Communications
    ??.?? – BEST FM, by Asianet Satellite Communications Pvt. Ltd.

    All these are STEREO.

    Also, Big FM and Radio Mirchi Supports RDS. You can use this feature if you have an RDS enabled FM receiver.
