Today\u00a0 I was\u00a0 playing with ubuntu 9.04 .\u00a0 I tried to install\u00a0 wwwoffle the\u00a0 off-line\u00a0 proxy server.\u00a0 At the end of installation it failed with a\u00a0 ” Sub process \/usr\/bin\/dpkg failed ” message.\u00a0 There was some thing wrong.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fixing the system required removal of the package. I tried the following in succession in vain.<\/p>\n
# apt-get remove wwwoffle<\/p>\n
#dpkg -P wwwoffle<\/p>\n
#dpkg –force-all\u00a0 -r wwwoffle<\/p>\n
I was stuck.\u00a0 I did a manual removal of the deb package like this.<\/p>\n
a) List out all the file of the deb package.<\/p>\n
# dpkg -L wwwoffle<\/p>\n
b) Removed all the files from the above list by hand.\u00a0 If you are smart enough you can write a script for that.<\/p>\n
c) Remove the package using apt<\/p>\n
