Most of the (silly) Malayalam news papers use Indic scripts with proprietary encoding. They will render only if you install the fonts properly. <a href=\"http:\/\/shibuvarkala.blogspot.com\/2007\/08\/ttf-fonts-in-debian-etch.html\" target=\"_blank\">This pos<\/a>t explains how to do it in Ubuntu\/Debian.\u00a0 Alternately, you can install <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/padma.mozdev.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Padma<\/a><\/strong> , a firefox\u00a0 add on,\u00a0 and read all the papers with out any hassle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Padma<\/strong> is a system for transforming Indic text between various public and proprietary formats. At present, it supports Unicode and RTS (Rice transliteration scheme)\u00a0 as output\u00a0 formats. RTS is available for telugu only. Padama supports these input methods.\u00a0\u00a0 RTS ,Unicode, ISCII ITRANS TSCII, TAB and TAM.
